slum communities
Holy Street Outreach International serves children and youth living in underserved slum communities across Kampala, Uganda. Our outreach currently reaches the communities of Kamwokya, Kawempe, Katanga, and Naguru Go-Down.
These communities face significant social and economic challenges, including extreme poverty, poor waste management, inadequate sanitation and sewage systems, overcrowded housing, drug and alcohol abuse, prostitution, and high school dropout rates.
Such environments make it difficult for children and young people to grow, learn, and reach their full potential. Through sports, mentorship, education, life skills training, and community outreach, Holy Street Outreach International is committed to restoring hope, transforming lives, and empowering the next generation to discover their purpose and build a brighter future.
Refugee Communities
We service International is committed to serving children and youth living in refugee communities through the power of sport. We currently operate in Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Isingiro District in partnership with Nakivale Youth Basketball Academy, working together to provide opportunities for young refugees to learn, grow, and thrive.
In addition, we serve refugees living in the urban communities of Kampala, reaching children and youth who face unique social and economic challenges as they rebuild their lives.
Using basketball as a tool for Sports for Peace, we create safe spaces where young people can develop life skills, build positive relationships, promote peaceful coexistence, and strengthen their physical and mental well-being. Through mentorship, leadership development, education, and community engagement, we empower refugee children and youth to discover their purpose, unlock their potential, and become agents of positive change within their communities.
Schools
We partners with schools to use basketball as a platform for education, character development, and positive life transformation. Through school-based programs, we provide children and young people with opportunities to develop their talents, build confidence, and learn essential life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Our activities include basketball coaching, leadership development, mentorship, life skills education, health awareness, and values-based learning. By working closely with schools, teachers, and communities, we help students develop discipline, teamwork, respect, resilience, and a sense of purpose both on and off the court.
We believe that every school can be a place where young people discover their potential, pursue their dreams, and become responsible leaders who positively impact their communities.
Street
Holy Street Outreach International is committed to reaching children living on the streets with compassion, hope, and practical support. Through our outreach programs, we provide meals, organize basketball activities, and create safe spaces where street-connected children can experience care, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.
We carry out this work in partnership with organizations that serve street children, combining our strengths to provide holistic support that addresses both immediate needs and long-term development. Basketball serves as a powerful tool to build trust, promote positive values, encourage teamwork, and inspire children to believe in a brighter future.
Our goal is to restore dignity, nurture potential, and help every child discover that they are valued, loved, and capable of achieving more than their circumstances may suggest.
