In communities where opportunities for girls are limited, HolyStreet is building a new story, one of confidence, leadership, and possibility. This December, HolyStreet Basketball Academy, in partnership with World Embrace, will host the second edition of the Her Purpose Basketball Camp, a residential, high‑performance experience designed exclusively for girls from underserved and underprivileged communities.
Her Purpose is more than a sports program. It is a movement that uses basketball as a bridge to empowerment. Many of the girls who join us come from slum communities, refugee settlements, and environments where their dreams are often overshadowed by daily challenges. Yet, when they step onto the court, something powerful happens, they discover their voice, their strength, and their potential.
This year’s camp will bring together elite and semi‑elite young female athletes from Kampala and Gulu. Over five days, participants will engage in intensive basketball training, leadership workshops, entrepreneurship sessions, mentorship circles, and faith‑based inspiration. The camp is designed to mirror the professionalism of global women’s basketball programs such as the WNBA Camps and BAL’s 4HER Initiative, giving girls a world‑class experience right here at home.
Beyond the game, Her Purpose addresses real issues affecting girls in vulnerable communities, limited access to education, early marriage, lack of safe spaces, and the emotional weight of poverty. Through mentorship and community engagement, we create an environment where girls feel seen, valued, and supported.
The camp will be hosted at Gulu Park, a safe and vibrant space provided through our partnership with World Embrace. Together, we aim to build a platform where girls can grow not only as athletes, but as leaders, innovators, and confident young women ready to shape their future.
